Scotts Creek Meeting with Neighboring Community of Harborgate Very Well Recieved
February 1, 2007
Charleston, SC (February 2007) – The Scotts Creek development team hosted a public meeting for the neighboring community of Harborgate on Wednesday, January 24. The public presentation was held at the Beach Residential office in Seaside Farms, and presenters included Eddie Guinn of Thomas & Hutton, Stroman Heiner of Gulf Stream Construction, Kim Boyd of Beach Residential, Kevin Mitchell of the Town of Mount Pleasant and Kent Johnson, Development Officer for Scotts Creek Community, LLC.
The meeting addressed issues concerning the proposed storm water management system improvements located between the two subdivisions. The Town of Mount Pleasant has required that the existing open ditch between Scotts Creek and the Harborgate neighborhood be eliminated and replaced with a buried pipe system. The new system will be located within the existing utility easement in Harborgate and a new contiguous utility easement provided by Scotts Creek. The proposed improvements will occur behind the existing rear fence lines in Harborgate. Construction will begin in early February and be completed within six weeks.
The Scotts Creek development team contacted every homeowner adjacent to the proposed storm drain improvements and invited them to call with questions and attend a presentation on the construction activities. The Harborgate residents have been very supportive of the improvements to the existing ditch, as they considered it unsafe and a maintenance nuisance that needed to be addressed.
